Public Participation Plan

Why is this important?

We think Carolina North represents a great opportunity to pilot some innovative approaches to public notice and participation that can inform broader public involvement strategies across a wide range of issues.

NRG report on expanding public participation opportunities

As mandated by a resolution passed by the Town Council in June, 2009, the Town Manager has developed a plan for public notice and participation for the first phase of the Carolina North development. It was presented on January 11, 2010.

In the months leading up to the draft plan NRG surveyed interested citizens and submitted a summary of results and recommendations to the Chapel Hill Town Manager in the form of the report Expanding Public Notice and Participation Opportunities: Carolina as a Pilot Study for Chapel Hill (pdf).

NRG has asked the Town Council to consider some of the ideas in the report before taking final action on the Town Manager’s plan.
